FAQ’s – Gutters

  • Why do I need gutters? The roof of an average size home sheds about 1000 gallons of water for every inch of rain. Gutters are essential for routing this water away from your home’s foundation. Without gutters, rain water seeps into basements and crawl spaces, causing mold and mildew. Properly installed gutters also keep runoff water from rotting exterior trim work, siding, doors and windows.
  • Why are clogged or leaking gutters a big deal?Traditional open top gutters collect leaves, pine needles and debris that accumulate in the downspouts and clog the system. Water spills over the side of clogged or leaking gutters and pours onto the side of the home, rotting wood and eventually creeping into the basement or crawl space. The K-Guard Leaf-Free Gutter System solves these problems forever by keeping leaves and debris out of the system and channeling water away from your home’s foundation and exterior.

  • How much does it cost?An estimator from Bassett Gutters and More will need to visit your home to determine the best solution to your problem and its total cost. Contractors and water damage experts tell us the most expensive gutters are the old ones you have now! They can cause mold and mildew problems; rotting wood and foundation damage that can cost thousands to repair.
  • Do you require a deposit?Your approval (signature on a work order) is all that is needed to begin most projects. Payment is due only when the job is finished!
  • How can I pay for it?We accept personal checks; Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Card. Bassett Gutters and More has financing available. Terms are subject to lender approval; ask your estimator for details or current specials.
  • How long does it take to install new gutters? We can finish installation of our K-Guard Leaf-Free Gutter System on most homes in less than one day.  Ask your estimator for details.
  • What makes K-Guard better than other gutters on the market?Seeing is believing.  A hands-on demonstration by one of our estimators is the best way to see why it’s better.  K-Guard was fully engineered from the beginning as an integrated leaf-free gutter system.  It carries more water, blocks out debris, drains water front and back, provides incredible strength and looks great!
  • What is the warranty on K-Guard? The K-Guard Leaf-Free Gutter System is so effective at keeping out leaves and debris, Bassett Gutters and More backs it up with a transferrable lifetime no-clog warranty to the original purchaser.  Ask your estimator for details.
  • Will K-Guard keep out all debris? No system can keep out 100% of debris, but K-Guard comes close! We use larger 3x4 downspouts that help flush out tiny pieces of debris that may occasionally enter the gutter.
  • Can I add the K-Guard hood to my current gutters? No. The K-Guard Leaf-Free Gutter System was designed as a single, complete system. Each system is custom made, right at your home, to ensure optimum performance. About 95% of our customers choose to replace their existing gutters with K-Guard.
  • What if my current gutters are almost new?See our LeafX page for more information about a product we recommend and install if your gutters are in great condition.
  • How does K-Guard perform under snowy and icy conditions? We have many homes in the North Carolina mountains with K-Guard and our customers there love it!  With its innovative design and special hangers, K-Guard can withstand virtually any snow, ice or wind condition.  Wintry weather causes big problems for regular open-top gutters.  Ice and snow gathers inside open gutters (where you can’t see it).  The freezing and thawing process and extra weight of the ice can eventually pry the gutters loose from your home.
  • How will K-Guard perform in extreme wind? Our patented hangers and installation method “lock down” the K-Guard gutter hood so you don’t have to worry about them being dislodged or blown away by wind. In addition, our system’s rear drainage channel helps prevent wind-blown water from backing up under your roof’s edge and causing damage.
  • How will K-Guard look on my home? Our customers say they love the way K-Guard improves the look of their home’s exterior. With its smooth, curved appearance, K-Guard has been described as the best looking system on the market. K-Guard tends to blend in with your home’s roof and trim more effectively than the vertical faces of other systems. Take a look at our photo gallery and see for yourself!
